Every August employees at UMI volunteer to be Hershey Park helpers for the day during 'August Crunch'. The park is in dire need of help at the end of August because the high school and college aged employees begin to head back to school, which leaves a huge shortage of workers for the end of the summer park season.
We volunteer to help with the rides, games, front gate and/or food and beverage. In the past, I've worked at the pizza shop near the Boardwalk and at the Pro Shot basketball shooting game. As a basketball fanatic, you can take an easy guess as to which job I absolutely LOVED. Don't get me wrong, serving up and eating delicious italian food was fun, but there was something special about getting to interact with the happy park goers at the basketball game. So many bright eyed young children ran up to the stand in absolute excitement.
I look forward to volunteering my time during August Crunch because it's one day out of the year that's a completely different and unique experience. I thoroughly enjoy being outside in the sun and interacting with people at the sweetest place on earth!
Check out my trick shot...of course it went in!
